Campbell St Housing Development - SEMF 2010

Comprising a 2 storey sub floor car park with a post tensioned transfer slab on the ground floor, this 4 level apartment complex is comprised of conventional reinforced & precast panel structures. Design considerations needed to take into account potential additional storeys and building over a transfer slab.

Bathurst Street Apartments, Hobart - Hazell Brothers Group 2009

This project required structural, civil & hydraulic design, documentation and supervision for a six level apartment complex with two levels of subterranean car parking for 40 residential apartments. Additional challenges were posed by way of a 9 meter deep excavation within 2 metres of a busy street. Timelines required the project to be delivered within a short period of time, without compromising the standard of design and documentation.

Sacred Heart Primary School Library, Geeveston - K2LD Architects 2009

Elegantly designed with a steel and timber frame and concrete floor, this modern school library features finished & intricate detailing which was aptly rewarded with an architectural design award.

Dominic College Discovery Child Care Centre, Glenorchy - Forward Brianese 2007

This facility was built on a steep bank converted to an extensive level area (cut & fill) which necessitated a floating concrete slab base with a timber frame structure. The colourful exterior cladding was designed to resemble a Rubic Cube.

Kingston Beach Motel - Alan Kirk Architectural 2004

The design consisted of precast panel and concrete slabs with glass curtain walls. The design featured a stainless steel clad curved wing shaped roof structure. The building was constructed in two stages with complex hydraulics as the site had very minimal falls and long continuous stormwater pipes.

Acton Primary Child and Family Centre, Burnie - PhilpLighton 2010

This building was constructed on exisiting concrete paved areas of an exisiting primary school and featured steel framed and long spanning curved trusses within an open plan design. The project also incorporated external site works.

KGV Grandstand, Glenorchy - Philp Lighton 2008

Aldanmark provided structural and hydraulic engineering design and supervision of a three storey, mostly precast single tier grandstand comprising of a lift shaft, superstructure and seating. Detailing of precast connections and propping was essential to ensure fast efficient erection of the building whilst maintaining structural integrity.

Co-Op Toyota Warehouse - Tim Penny Architecture & Interiors 2010

Adjacent to the newly constructed Co-Op Toyota Lexus Showroom in Argyle Street, Hobart, this warehouse was constructed by Kmead Constructions.

Blackmans Bay South House - Brian Wyatt 2005

A conventional reinforced concrete structure with all off form, exposed rammed earth columns and floating roof structure.

Legal Aid Offices Hobart - X Squared Architects 2003

A refurbished inner city nightclub converted from 2 to 3 levels incorporating a mezzanine floor with an all timber and steel beam construction involving extremely tight head room clearances. Increased fire rating requirements added complexity to the design process and an exposed light well is a major supporting structural feature.

Tranmere Road House - Maria Gigney Architect 2006

Expressed steel and timber details were a requirement of this brief creating an industrial appearance. Long spans and an open plan design added to the industrial feel of the building situated on a narrow and steep site.

Campbell Street Gallery, Hobart - Brian Wyatt 2007

An ambitious conversion from a church to an art gallery this project required alterations to the floor, an additional mezzanine floor and walkway platforms. Rotating display areas were also an interesting design feature.

LGH Emergency Department, Launceston - PhilpLighton Architects 2010

This building consists of a five storey concrete addition for a new department of emergency medicine partly constructed over a lower level trafficable lane way. The project posed staging and coordination challenges as well as structural design issues associated with construction adjacent to a working hospital.

UTAS Menzies Medical Research Centre Stage 1 - Fairbrother P/L 2008

Aldanmark was engaged to oversee all construction related issues including relevant inspections and involvement of erection procedures for pre-cast façade. The project required regular inspections and reporting, demonstrating competency with respect to project management and clerical procedures. The project construction phase was approximately 18 months and was completed in late 2009.

Fitzroy Crescent House - Maria Gigney Architect 2004

This architect designed home is comprised of a conventional timber and steel frame with highlight glass underneath a raised ceiling/roof necessitating minimal structural supports.

Lightening Protection Industries, Huntingfield - Graham Hills 2009

This conventinal warehouse constructed over a suspended slab with high load precast panel walls and a large span steel framed roof. The project included 4m high precast retaining walls and a tight time frame from engagement to completion.

Corpus Christie School, Bellerive - 1 + 2 Architecture 2009

Another Nation Building school refurbishment consisting of a new library and extension to an existing hall to create a music room and stage area. An extension to an Early Learning Centre and a general upgrade of the school was also part of the project. A standout feature is the colourful alucobond cladding to the library exterior.

A raised glass supporting roof structure comprised the dominant design feature.

PMM Real Estate Office, Rosny - X Squared Architects 2005

A difficult rocky corner site contributed significant additional cost which necessitated a reduction to the cut size whilst retaining the maximum building floor size. The building design iinvolved the use of extensive cantilevers, an imposing steel frame glass entrance, timber flooring with a bridge crossover and a full steel frame over two levels.

Beach Café, Blackmans Bay - Dock 4 2007

With very tight height restrictions imposed in planning, this beachside café was constructed of precast panels to walls over the first floor which were used as supports to allow large clear spans to the ground floor café. A number of apartments were built on the upper levels taking advantage of the beach & harbour views.

Ralphs Bay Recreation Facility, Lauderdale - IDW Architecture 2009

Consisting of an open plan curved portal frame, precast facade and concrete slab on a controlled fill site with a 1.5m crossfall, this sports facility was constructed upon a very poor reactive base with a low bearing capacity.
